WonderRoot Film Series Opens Submissions

Seeking to support emerging filmmakers in getting their work festival-ready, WonderRoot’s Generally Local, Mostly Independent Film Series is an ongoing partnership between WonderRoot, Plaza Theatre, and Atlanta Film Society voted Best Local Film Series three years in a row by Creative Loafing Atlanta! The series is now accepting entries for its August 2016 screening.

Winning filmmakers, determined by guest jurors selected to review the selected films, receive $150 in funding to submit their work to other local and national film festivals, a feature on the WonderRoot Artist podcast, and a private consultation with Atlanta Film Festival programmers in addition to.

WonderRoot is an Atlanta-based non profit arts and service organization with a mission to unite artists and community to inspire positive social change. By providing production facilities to Atlanta-based artists and coordinating arts-based service programs, WonderRoot empowers artists to be proactive in engaging their communities through arts-based service work. We believe that art is an agent of change and that by empowering people with the means to create art, we are in turn empowering people with the means to create change.

Only locally-shot Georgian short films are eligible. The film must have either been shot in Georgia and/or come from a filmmaker who currently resides in GA. The series is interested in screening high quality films in genres including experimental shorts, documentaries, narratives, animation, music videos, and video art.
