Atlanta Film Society to Receive $20,000 Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts

ATLANTA, GA —National Endowment for the Arts Acting Chairman Mary Anne Carter has approved more than $27 million in grants as part of the Arts Endowment’s first major funding announcement for fiscal year 2019.  Included in this announcement is an Art Works grant of $20,000 to the Atlanta Film Society for the Atlanta Film Festival. Art Works is the Arts Endowment’s principal grantmaking program. The agency received 1,605 Art Works applications for this round of grantmaking, and will award 972 grants in this category.

“The arts enhance our communities and our lives, and we look forward to seeing these projects take place throughout the country, giving Americans opportunities to learn, to create, to heal, and to celebrate,” said Mary Anne Carter, acting chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts. 

"To continue to receive support for the National Endowment for the Arts is such an honor for our organization," said ATLFS Executive Director Christopher Escobar. "Earning their endorsement means so much to us, but also the funds will enable us to continue our work and provide more resources for Atlanta’s filmmaking community."

Now celebrating it's 43rd year, the Atlanta Film Festival's primary goal is to showcasing the work of independent filmmakers and enrich the interests of film lovers throughout Atlanta. ATLFF's screenings include narrative, documentary, and experimental film as well as animation, puppetry, and musical works. In addition, the Creative Conference is made up of 40 educational panels, workshops and masterclasses for artists and audiences on a variety of industry topics.
