ATLFS Filmmaker-in-Residence Jared Callahan Brings JANEY MAKES A PLAY to The Plaza for a Week
Jared Callahan's "Janey Makes a Play" was a huge success when it held its world premiere at the 2015 Atlanta Film Festival. "Janey" went on to delight audiences at tons of festivals across the country and even raised more than $20,000 from a $12,000 Kickstarter campaign goal to finish the film and get it in cinemas nationwide. This March, at the opening night of ATLFF '16, Jared was inducted as one of the Atlanta Film Society's Filmmakers-in-Residence.
Now, "Janey Makes a Play" is returning to Atlanta for a week-long run at the Plaza Theatre! It will play daily from Friday, June 17 through Wednesday, June 22. Jared will be in attendance for a Q&A at all screenings Sunday through Wednesday!

Janey is an enchanting 90-year-old woman who has spent her life in theatre, writing and directing original plays. However, her latest community theatre production may be her last as she faces the erosion of her small town's local economy. Follow Janey as she rallies together the community of Rio Vista, California to pull of a high-caliber production with a diverse set of characters. In addition to a behind the scenes look at Janey's creative process, the documentary also features intimate interviews and stories of the local residents detailing their own struggles amid their town's recession.
