Kodak: a name instantly recognizable as one of the world’s most iconic photography companies. Credited as being the first company to make photography accessible to the average consumer, Kodak continues to be an incredible partner for creatives who are looking to expand their skill set.

The Atlanta Film Society and Kodak Film Laboratories are proud to offer avenues for the Atlanta film community to enrich their knowledge of film and filmmaking. Kodak Film Labs offer dedicated color negative processing as well as film scanning and a myriad of other services. They have also branched out, in partnership with ATLFS, to provide workshops and discussion forums for Atlanta film aficionados.

Kodak Coffee with Cameras is a monthly event, in collaboration with ATLFS, where film enthusiasts can learn from professionals in an intimate classroom setting. With film adapting and growing constantly, this event is a great way to stay informed about innovations in working with film. In February, Atlanta Cinematographer Joshua Looby reviewed working with an Aaton III 35mm MP Camera. The inviting atmosphere is conducive to an intimate learning experience and is made all that much more enjoyable when paired with a shot of java.

The crowning gem of ATLFS and Kodak Film Lab’s partnership is the 100 Feet of Film project. This project provides teams of filmmakers with the opportunity to maximize creativity while minimizing the ability to reshoot. At its core, the aim is to concentrate on the fundamentals of filmmaking. With only 100 feet of film stock to shoot, competitors are given access to a 16mm Film workshop and the Kodak Film processing lab in order to create a fantastic film.

This year, competing films will be having a premiere screening. Two winners will be chosen, a Jury Award Winner and an Audience Award Winner, and will be showcased at the 2020 Atlanta Film Festival, happening September 17-27th . The ATLFS and Kodak Film Lab partnership in this competition highlights ATLFS’s commitment to fostering artistic growth and connecting audiences with creatives.

In addition to the hallmark Kodak Coffee with Cameras and 100 Feet of Film project, ATLFS and Kodak Film Lab partnership regularly host workshops focusing on learning the ins and outs of cinematography and 16mm film, as well as entertaining and informative discussions on working with film!

Join ATLFS in attending Kodak events, like Kodak Coffee with Cameras, and catch the two 100 Feet of Film project winning films this year at the Atlanta Film Festival.

ATLFS and Georgia State University Public Relation students have collaborated on a series of articles on the film industry.
