Find Out About The D-Girl Project at EDBI on August 15!
Concerned about the lack of local above the line training and content creation development, in 2013 Linda Burns launched a free monthly workshop called The D-Girl Project. Named to honor Hollywood's D-Girls or Development Girls, the D-Girl was an entry level position and responsible for reading screenplay submissions, identifying worthy ones, offering coverage, and pitching the scripts up the food chain for possible production.
For the last 3-4 years, the group studied feature screenplays and TV pilot scripts and series, and finally came together as a writers room to craft a spec Christmas episode for the BBC series Call the Midwife. The D-Girl Project focuses on writing loglines, synopses, and outlines, crafting pitches, marketing ideas, and lookbooks, and development in general.
Gearing up for the 2018 season, the D-Girl Project will create a writer's room with Producer Linda Burns serving as ShowRunner. The group is looking for interested up and coming and veteran writers and producers - male and female - to apply to the group to expand and improve their craft.
