The eight films selected come from over 40 entries. They highlight October’s theme of locally produced short films under the thriller, horror, suspense, or mystery genres.

Atlanta Film Society Receives Grant from Georgia Council for the Arts
ATLANTA – Atlanta Film Society (ATLFS) was awarded a grant by Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA), a strategic arm of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, as part of its initial disbursement of grants for fiscal year 2023. A total of 213 organizations were awarded 253 grants that provide more than $3.1 million in funding to arts organizations throughout the state.

Jonathan Kieran is a film programmer hailing from Essex County, Massachusetts. After making a start as an amateur filmmaker at the tender age of 22, he moved across the country to take a spot at the Master of Fine Arts program in Film Production at the University of New Orleans.

Alyssa Armand, Programming Director of the Atlanta Film Society (ATLFS), will be Stepping Down
Alyssa has a long history with the organization, having volunteered in 2013 & 2014, started as an intern in 2014, and joined staff in 2015. In 2017 Alyssa took on the role of Programming Director--as both the youngest to hold her role and held the longest tenure in her role over the organization’s 46-year history.
Atlanta Film Society and The Plaza Theatre Reveal 2021 Sundance Film Festival Program Selections Debuting in Atlanta
ATLANTA, GA — The Atlanta Film Society (ATLFS) and The Plaza Theatre, in partnership with the nonprofit Sundance Institute, are pleased to share 11 films that will be presented in Atlanta as part of the Satellite Screens initiative for the 2021 Sundance Film Festival, January 28 – February 3, 2021. All 11 films will be making their world premieres at Sundance.
2021 Sundance Film Festival Will Meet Audiences Where They Are
PARK CITY, UTAH — The nonprofit Sundance Institute today unveiled plans for the seven-day 2021 Sundance Film Festival, offered digitally via a custom-designed online platform (festival.sundance.org) alongside drive-ins, independent arthouses, and a network of local community partnerships.
