Think about all the times we’re asked “so tell us about yourself?” This question produces so many answers that what we say and what we meant to say are completely different thoughts. Stories are much the same. We are asked to pitch and we go in so many directions that the crux and main idea of the story is lost. We all have stories to tell but not all of us end up orating them the way we intend to. This class is here to help.
In this two day workshop, the students will pitch their story, uncover the main idea of their narrative, and write the beginning of their short film screenplay. Students will not only learn the art of pitching effectively, but will also learn how to introduce and develop a character, create and maintain a consistent tone, and write a story that further enhances their voice and perspective.
ATLFS offers a maximum of 2 scholarships per class offering and are awarded on an as-needed basis. Scholarships cover 100% of the cost of registration. Please note that this scholarship is intended for Black Filmmakers and Students.
