Asad Farooqui
Asad Farooqui is a director, screenwriter, producer, and actor. He has directed multiple films and written various scripts about characters stuck in an America that refuses to accept them.
Asad’s feature script, The Immigration Game, won first place at the Atlanta Film Festival Screenplay Contest. His pilot script, The Islamic Boys, was a finalist at the Nashville Film Festival. Most recently, Asad’s feature script, Boundaries, won the Sidewalk Film Festival Screenplay Competition.
Mabrook/Congratulations, his most recent film, was selected as a "Market Pick" at the Clermont- Ferrand Short Film Market and was an official selection to Palm Springs, Atlanta, New Orleans, Bentonville and many other festivals around the world. It is currently playing on Alaska Airlines and has been picked up by Film Shortage to stream on its web channel.
Asad is a graduate of Emory University and received his MFA in Screenwriting and Directing from Columbia University where he was also a Teaching Fellow. He is a professor of directing and screenwriting at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and is currently developing his first feature, The Immigration Game, which was a participant in last year’s Gotham Week Project Market and Southern Producer's Lab.
